Both technical and artistic skills (i.e. the feeling for music) of the students is being developed;
Enjoyable : even if the classes are open to anyone, most students are of school-going age; when they come to the music class, they have usually already spent many hours at school; in order to keep the drop-out rate to a minimum, the music classes are made as lively / attractive as possible. Moreover, raising the interest in music is at least as important as teaching music; and that is only possible if the student comes with an open mind; therefore, s/he should be enthusiastic about coming to the music classes, s/he should not see this as 'another obligation';
Promotion of music : the school is to play an important role in promoting music among a broader public in Thimphu through the organization of musical events. Moreover, the fact that students can opt to learn how to play traditional Bhutanese instruments - making use of the same music theory - should help keeping traditional music alive and promoting it among the youth.
